Miami Township Zoning Commission Meeting Minutes
December 4, 2018

Call to Order: E Legge called the meeting to order at 7:04 pm

Roll Call: F. Legge, B. Cony, L. Parsons, D. Amstutz, R. Zopf, C. Ham minutes taker.

Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes: L. Parsons moved to approve the minutes, with D. Amstutz  
seconding, all approved

Agenda Review: Discussion of PUD’s, whether to keep it in the Zoning Plan or to remove

Old Business: As the PUD chapter now stands, it’s open to abuse. We need to eliminate it or rewrite it.  
It was decided to rewrite it at the next meeting.

New Business: R. Zopf reported to the board that a new owner near Grinnell Circle, wants to build a  
storage building 50X56 ft. On the left is the former B&B. Asked if you can see the building? Answer,  
no, unless trees are cut down. The Zoning Plan states in “18.455 Harmony With Locality: That the  
variance requested shall not alter the essential character of the locality. In making this determination,  
the Board of Appeals shall be advised by the recommendation of the Zoning Commission.” B. Cony  
motioned that the zoning commission provide a variance request recommendation to BZA that is in  
harmony with the neighborhood. L. Parsons seconded with all saying aye. The motion passed. There  
will be a BZA meeting on December 13.

Announcements & Future Agenda Planning: The next meeting January 15, 2019 will be a time to go  
over what was accomplished in 2018. And, what we want to accomplish in 2019. Also, the voting of  
new officers for the year 2019. The agenda with be to rewrite the PUD section of the Zoning Plan or to  
have a good argument to eliminate it.
